You may have noticed that there wasn’t a Tuesday post last week. Well, I’ll be very honest with you – and I will always be honest with you here – I was swamped. In the past couple weeks life has gotten VERY busy for me. I don’t wish to use that as an excuse to shirk my commitment to you, dear readers. However, I know it’s something you understand. Angela and I discussed what was the best choice for last Tuesday’s post. We always want to have something meaningful to share, and to devote careful time and attention to what we are saying and sharing with you week to week. I feel that if I cannot give you something of merit and meaning, then I would be doing a disservice to put something up that was forced or half-thought.
Why have I been so busy? I have been working on a number of projects with other people for other people, and in any free moment, trying to work on a special project for myself. Part of the issue is setting limits to what I can do for others. We have to realize that we are human, and sometimes we get overwhelmed, or we exhaust ourselves trying to keep all the pots burning, when really we should take our time and prioritize! One of my personal lessons that I endeavor to master is making Sean a priority #1.
What I want to share with you this week is this – Give yourself a break. Sometimes you do indeed need to step back and regroup. Additionally, you have to make sure that you don’t get lost in the shuffle. There is a commitment and dedication to yourself that you need to master in order to be able to truly do anything for anyone. You know how they tell you on a plane, in case of emergency, put your oxygen mask on first before attempting to help anyone else? Do that. If you are running yourself ragged, losing sleep, getting sick, you are not at your best and therefore cannot give your best to anyone else. So take care of yourself. It’s okay to put yourself first, especially when you know you are not functioning at your full and best capacity. Perhaps you need to take just one more thing OFF of your to-do list so you can accomplish everything you need to on your personal action list.
Don’t be afraid to make YOURSELF a priority. Learn to do this. This is vital, not only to success in achieving your goals, but to living life to its fullest. It’s not easy. I’ve been working at it for a few years now, and at times you forget. Keep at it.
As to my personal project, I hope to be bringing news to you all very soon!
Joy in action,
